WHO: Daniel Arsham

WHAT: His solo show ‘The Fall, the Ball and the Wall’

WHEN: From January 20th – February 16th 2012

WHERE: Oh Wow Gallery, in West Hollywood. Go HERE for details

WHY: Kesh and I went down to check out the show last night and it gave us everything. The work was bizzare and amazing. The process of the work seemed so considered. Artists that manipulate space successfully using innovate methods get my vote. I highly recommend experiencing the show.

WHO_One of the best graphic designers of all time.

WHAT_His new website

WHEN_January 2012

WHERE_The guys over it Its Nice That blogged about about it and I thought this deserves a post here too.

WHY_Milton Glaser is one of my hero’s, and i’m sure is for thousands of others too. So I will just use this post as a small showcase of why, please check him out! So, his CV reads like this;  In 1954 he co-founded Push Pin Studio, in 1968, he co- founded New York magazine, where he was president and design director. He established Milton Glaser, Inc. in 1974, and teamed with Walter Bernard in 1983 to form the publication design firm WBMG. One of the many things he did was design the logo which has been described as ‘the most frequently imitated logo design in human history’ – I heart NY.

Instead of me going on, the best thing that you can do is go here.

WHAT_The covers that I found recently

WHEN_January 2012

WHERE_2nd hand bookshop – Oxfam

WHY_On spotting these great covers in a local Oxfam, I wanted to find out a little more. The covers are inspired, and very distinct an current considering the era in which they were published. I love how simple design work can be so impactful. These covers still reflect up to date concepts and aesthetics of designers today, some being nearly 50 years old. Pelican was an imprint of Penguin, which was formed to educate the reading public rather than entertain. Thousands of various titles were published from 1937 for the next half century, mainly written by specialist academic authors. There is a great gallery HERE take a look, 50′s, 60′s & 70′s rock.

I’ve also created a tumblr with reference images for your viewing pleasure whilst listening to the radio show podcast. WHY_To raise funding for their projects that provide creative opportunities for young people in some of the most deprived areas in London. Numerous artists, designers and illustrations including Antony Gormely, Christopher Kane, Tracey Emin, Wolfgang Tilsman, Rob Ryan donated works to help AAK. We donated a series of Gob Shop Prints and I (Suz) donated one of my prints to the auction. We were kindly invited down for the event by Katy and Oliver, so me and Charlotte brought Mister Batlow, Josh Sutterby and Grace Ladoja with us. We had such a fun night. The auction was a-maz-zing. Ed the auctioneer was incredible, standing up on his desk and everything. Oh how we laughed. The Over It & Co donations ended up raising £1,000 for AAK which made us very happy. Over It & Co is going to be collaborating with AAK for the month of april in their recently opened gallery space in boxpark, I’ll keep you in the loop.
